Crayford/Dartford Marshes

Looking over the banks of the River Thames from Crayford Marshes

I teamed up with a good friend of mine, John Bushnell and his mate Comrad, at Slade Green Station. From here we made are way towards Crayford Marshes. We looked for the 2 Little Owls in Willows close to the footpath, but after a good twenty minutes all we could produce were, lots of Ring-necked Parakeets. It wasn't until we got to the River Thames that we started to see some birds of note. The river was low and altogether we managed to find 4 adult and 2 2nd winter Yellow-legged Gulls, 1 Rock Pipit, 2 Turnstones, 40+Redshanks and 80+Dunlin.
A drive to Crossness found a very confiding Fox and lots of Black-tailed Godwits. A female Tufted Duck was with the flocks of Teal and Gadwall. We then made a visit to Dartford Marshes, but the only bird of interest was a wintering Green Sandpiper on the River Darent.  Not much seen, but it was good to bird with John and Comrad and hopefully I'll see them again while I'm the Dartford area.

This fox, at Crossness, was keeping a very sharp eye on us

The Fox started observing us, until it saw our faces and ran off over the bank of the Thames
